Why Me?

Here I am at licensing school or what I call "how to be a Pastor 101" school. I have been here since Friday evening. My kids are at home with Paul and his mom and I am here, learning about how to be a Pastor.

My Senior Pastor has appointed me at my home church, Grace UMC. I will be an Associate Pastor of Pastoral Care. Like a real life Pastor.

There have been a few times this week where I wanted to run away, pack up my bags and go home. I have felt overwhelmed, lost, anxious and filled with fear for what I am doing.

I have asked God several times this week and since I answered my call to ministry "Why me?" Why do you choose me to be your servant? Why have you chosen me to speak your word? Why have you chosen me in my brokenness to be a vessel for your love to flow through in hopes to minister to others?

WHY ME?

I love working with people. I am good at public speaking. I like visiting people in the hospital. I like leading classes. I love all that I do at the church.

But to be an actual Pastor, Why Me?

This week has taught me a lot so far. It has taught me that I am called to minister to people. I am called to preach God's word. I am called to be a vessel for the Holy Spirit to flow through and minister to others.

Just like many of the people here, we are all asking- why me?

I honestly don't know if I will ever know the answer but I do know that this week I have truly grown. I have grown in my knowledge of the church, in the small details that go into every thing, in how to lead worship, in how to write a sermon and in my love for God.

I feel refreshed. I feel renewed and I feel ready for this challenge.

I will likely ask myself "why me" throughout my entire career as a Pastor and that is what will challenge me to look within myself, to ask God for answers and to renew my spirit.

So here I am God. I am ready. I am willing and I am yours.

"All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age"
